Project Overview
Puppeteer is a solo project developed within the framework of a university semester project. This project represents a visualization style I have experimented with throughout my learning process using 3D tools. The primary focus was on 3D hard surface modeling, utilizing Blender for modeling, shading, lighting, and animation processes. Post-production was conducted using Adobe After Effects and Final Cut Pro.
Concept and Inspiration
In the past, shadow regimes have acted as conductors among the masses, while the masses deluded themselves into believing they were free to choose. However, the strings attached to the hand do not ordain the puppets as puppeteers. The sovereignty behind a puppet government might be merely another marionette being manipulated by another force. Today, are we still only puppets, dreaming of power and calling ourselves puppeteers? Are we all still countervailing against the power in a world of puppeteers? Who is the orchestrator, and who creates our delusions of grandeur? Or perhaps there may never be any puppeteers walking among us, only puppets.
Artistic Statement
This project delves into the themes of power, control, and illusion. By portraying characters as puppets manipulated by unseen forces, Puppeteer challenges the viewer to question the nature of autonomy and authority in our society. The animation reflects on the idea that what we perceive as control may merely be another layer of manipulation. Through this visual narrative, the project invites viewers to reflect on their role within the larger system and to consider the true nature of power dynamics.
