ORPHALESE is an ongoing project that extends a series of experiments focusing on the use of Motion Capture data in 3D environments and the integration of chroma-keyed footage into virtual spaces.
Utilizing the Rokoko Smartsuit Pro 2 for MoCap data recording, the project aims to test the integration of this data into the animation pipeline. This includes retargeting MoCap data to customized rigs, adapting to out-of-proportion body figures, performing motion correction, and baking the data into animation clips for further use.
The primary objective of ORPHALESE is to enhance the utility of MoCap data in animation production. By seamlessly blending live-action footage with fantastical settings, the project pushes the boundaries of combining real and virtual elements. ORPHALESE strives to create a harmonious mix of reality and digital art, making animated worlds feel more authentic and immersive.
