AntiVirus | VR Animation Made with Unity

Project Title: AntiVirus
Platform: VR Animation
Engine: Unity

Project Overview

AntiVirus is an immersive VR environment designed to evoke feelings of fear, anxiety, and insecurity. The inspiration for this project stemmed from the concept of fear itself, recognizing that many emotions in our lives are triggered by fear. This VR animation seeks to explore and visualize these emotions through an interactive experience.

Concept and Inspiration: The core idea behind AntiVirus is the pervasive nature of fear. Often, fear prevents us from taking action, trying new things, or trusting others, leading to irrational decisions aimed at self-protection. This project aims to encapsulate these feelings within a virtual environment filled with elements that evoke fear.

The environment is designed to convey a message: fear can be dual-sided. The things that terrify us may also be influenced by our fear. To illustrate this, the virtual world is entirely covered with viruses, symbolizing the rapid spread of both fear and viruses. While viruses attack our immune systems, fear alters our personalities.

Environmental Design

  • Uncertain and Unpredictable Movements: The movements of the viruses within the environment are deliberately uncertain and unexpected, mirroring human behavior and the unpredictability of fear.
  • Human Whispering Sounds: Adding human whispers to the viruses enhances the confusion about their definitions and identities, emphasizing the interaction between the known and the unknown.
  • Color Scheme: The environment features a green skybox instead of a red one. Red often symbolizes anxiety, enthusiasm, and fear. By avoiding this color, the environment refrains from hinting at specific emotions, allowing players to experience them organically through their encounters with the creatures.

Scene Breakdown

Upon entering the scene, players find themselves in a boundless universe with patterns resembling corpuscles in the background. The choice of a green skybox over red is intentional to prevent preconceived notions of anxiety and fear, encouraging players to engage with the environment and its inhabitants on their terms.

Key Objectives

  • Explore Fear: To visualize and explore the pervasive nature of fear and its impact on our emotions and actions.
  • Immersive Experience: To create an immersive VR environment that elicits genuine emotional responses from players.
  • Interactive Elements: To design interactions that highlight the unpredictability and dual nature of fear.

Conclusion

AntiVirus is a unique VR animation project that delves into the complexities of fear and its effects on our lives. By creating an environment filled with fear-inducing elements and unpredictable interactions, the project aims to provide players with a thought-provoking and immersive experience that challenges their perceptions of fear and anxiety.
